Our New Gymnast!

Well she's not really a new gymnast, but she is on a new gymnastics team. I was so excited to find a gym that participated in CARA gymnastics here in Grand Junction. It took me about 4 months to find a gym, after we had all but given up on the idea. Marina hadn't been in the gym for 6 months, and she joined this new team just as the new competition season was beginning.
You can imagine our delight when the new gym is named, Defy Gravity. If you know our family, you know how much we love the musical Wicked. In this musical a major song is entitled, "Defying Gravity." Even Esaias has fully embraced this (although he hasn't seen the musical yet, but does knows the music) when we drive Marina to practice he will shout out, "Turn on the witch!" This is his request for us to play the CD Wicked. We do this to help inspire Marina to work hard. Marina loves her new gold and black leotard with rhinestones! That's my girl, gotta love the bling!

All of the meets are a long the Front Range, so yes, we travel over the mountains for every meet. You can imagine Marina's mixed emotions and nerves to return to compete in her old gym against her old teammates in Aurora. Amazing what you can do with those nerves. She had her best meet ever! Taking her first blue ribbon home! Not just on one event but in the all around! She also placed 3rd on bars, and 1st place on floor! She joined the 9.0 club with her 9.1 score on floor!

The Silverthorne meet brought us an eventful day of driving there and back on the same day. The kids did well! The boys got out some energy and play time at the park before the meet started.

It was a great park, lots of cool and different toys to play on! The rocking lady bug was a perfect fit for Oslin.
Even a two-seater bumble bee worked for Esaias and Isaac.
There was a lot of fun climbing equipment, good for all sizes!
 Looks like Oslin liked swinging!

 Dad liked playing too!
As I said before, great climbing equipment for all sizes!
Marina did pretty well at this meet, but dropped in total score by a few tenths, and the competition was a little steeper, so not as many ribbons, but she was still happy with a 5th and 6th performance.
With qualifying scores this season, we will be going to Regionals on July 13 in Thornton, Colorado, hosted by Broomfield. Yes, she will get to compete with her Auntie Risa's gymnastics team as the home team. Best of luck to our Gymnast!
