Fables and More Milestones!

What a day!!

I knew today was going to be interesting, and a big hurdle to tackle, but I don't think I knew really what I had gotten myself into. So, today was Esaias' 2 week check up at 8:15am this morning. I knew this would require getting up and getting ready just like a regular school/work day, only now adding a new "bundle" of things to have ready. Side note- just getting myself ready by this time would be a feat, as I don't think I have showered before noon in almost 2 weeks. I did solicit Dad's help and figured I could do it, if he helped get Esaias ready. All in all we managed to have kids to school on time, and Esaias and I to the Dr. on time. Although, Danny was a little late for work.

The Dr. appt. went very well. Our little guy, average in weight and head circumference, proved to be long and tall, as he is 82% in height. I was very proud of myself getting us both into the Dr.'s, down to the lab, and back to the car all by myself. Seems like a small event, but when you haven't carried a diaper bag, purse, and car seat in quite a while, it is a feat. You should try it. Quite a juggling act. I'll be a pro in no time.

Thrilled with this accomplishment, I was sure I could handle going to the school for Marina's reader's theater Fables performance. I knew that some of the adults would see me and the baby, but I figured I could sneak in and out unnoticed by my 5th graders. BOY was I ever wrong!!! Forgetting that it was Thursday and my students would be coming to the library for check out (the performance was in the library) and with no school on Friday, another of the 5th grade classes came too. Yikes! I was swarmed!

The cutest part is that the first group that gathered around me was a group of about 7 boys. Not the sweetest boys either. Who knew that they could be so enamored by a little one of them. In fact, one of my toughest and most challenging boys didn't leave my side for 30 min. and asked every question about babies you might think of. So, while I grinned and handled it, by the time I was done, I was sweating and feeling rather flustered having not prepared myself for that crazy event.

Poor Marina, I went for her, but I am not sure that she got the attention she deserved. A couple of her friends came to talk with me, before the attack of 5th graders. And they were very cute. Telling me how adorable my baby was. Marina has a little friend that doesn't talk. She only talks to the teacher in whispers. She came over to see the baby, and when I talked to her, she actually whispered to me that she had a little sister. I felt quite special that ranked important enough to be spoken to. She really likes Marina a lot. And I think from what I know and have heard from Marina and the teacher, that Marina is very good with this little girl, being very kind and encouraging to her.Marina was an owl in her fable, and did a fantastic job. She has come an amazingly long way since entering kindergarten last year. She is a reader, and believe me when I tell you that I had serious doubts about getting there yet. I am so proud of her. She works really hard (well for everyone, but me) But at least she is good at school. She is very responsible and kind. Seems to be a good leader and friend to lots of her peers. What more could I ask for? I love her. Thanks Marina for being willing to share your spotlight with your new little brother.
After I left the school, I felt like I could collapse. This was more than I had done in over 2 weeks. Hence, why I title this Fables and more milestones. We truly crossed many today. We will be up and running at full speed in no time. Thanks to Jeannie for letting me come have lunch at her house till I picked up the kids. I think I might have actually collapsed if I had gone straight home. Maybe never to have gotten up again. I am proud of myself. Even if it seems silly to the rest of the world. But I did a lot today, and I conquered!!! :)
