Tooth Anxiety & Excitement!

Marina lost her first tooth on Wed. after much anxiety! As with almost all things involving Marina, we had a week and a half of drama over a very small tooth.

A little background might be helpful here. Danny has taken much pride in becoming the family "tooth puller". That extends to his nieces and nephews. Marisa's girls go to Danny when they have loose teeth and a let him try to pull them out. They even call to give him the news of a lost tooth, even when he's not the "puller." I think he's getting way too much enjoyment out of this strange job.

Even Isaac has survived his Dad pulling out a couple teeth or at least trying. Isaac's even had to have several pulled by the dentist. And he's always been a trooper. Very little drama.

So that brings us back to Marina.
We knew she has a couple wiggly teeth, but didn't give it much thought or attention until her teacher came to me after school and said, "I hope you're prepared for the Tooth Fairy to come." She reported that Marina was very close to loosing her tooth, and that Marina was very excited about it. So much that she even allowed her teacher to flick the tooth once to see if it would come out. I thought to myself WOW that was brave of her.
Sure enough we got home and that tooth was very loose. Long story short...if possible. Marina couldn't go to sleep because it was bothering her. So...dunt da dunt ta da...Dad to the rescue. Well not exactly! Marina had a full meltdown about wanting it out, but was too afraid to let Dad touch it. I spent 20 min. calming her down, praying, singing, and convincing her that she could let it fall out when it was ready. Within in a couple days Dad couldn't resist trying again. AGAIN after an hour meltdown, I was ready to pull out both Dad's and Marina's teeth.
Finally, on Wed. I picked her up from after school care, and it was gone. She was sooooo excited. She was eating lunch, thought she had a Dorito chip stuck in her gums, reached in and pulled it out. Just like that no pain, no crying. Isn't she a trip?
The Tooth Fairy felt like that tooth was worth a couple dollars due to all the headache it caused. All is well again, except we still have another wiggly tooth. And when asked if she has gotten over the fear of it hurting....the answer is NO!
