"I'm finally in double digits, Mom," Marina proudly states on the way to school Friday, Sept. 27, 2013. She said that she woke up early @ 1 am the morning of the 27th to wish herself an official happy 10th birthday. (She was born around 1 am on the 27th) Funny girl! Probably the youngest in her 5th grade class, she is very happy to have crossed over into double digits. Can you believe 10 years already? The next 10 years...just thinking about that might freak me out!
Marina is an amazing young person. She is the most responsible and hardworking of all my children. She has a strong desire to do right, and wants everyone to make good choices. She can memorize anything, especially if you put it to music. She is very musically talented, athletic, and creative. I think she stole all those talents from everyone else. She kind of has the monopoly on this in our house. Although she doesn't love reading, she does enjoy reading books about real people and events. Her favorite books right now, are the "I Survived..." books. She has read about the Titanic, 911-The Twin Towers, Shark Attacks, the Bombing of Pearl Harbor, and is currently reading about Hurricane Katrina.
She loves to help people. She hopes to be a teacher when she gets older. She loves to notice all the things that teachers do, and create. Academics are a challenge for her sometimes. She's worried that she won't be able to be a teacher, because school is hard for her. But I have reassured her that she will be an even better teacher than most, because she struggles. She will know how to help those students who really need her help, and struggles like she did. She has become very adaptable and is willing to try new things, and foods. She likes to cook. She talks all the time!!!
She loved her birthday this year. Happy to just be! Here's a picture of her in her favorite room in our house (the living room) with her presents all set up, just to look at.
American Girl doll hair accessories from Mom and Dad, with a salon chair from G'ma Chris and Papa Joe, and a school desk with fun school supplies were the main part of her loot.
Presents, cards and money from Georgia: Grandma Cindy, Papa Ken & Grandma Martin put a big smile on her face too!
And despite being the only girl, still can't keep her brothers out of her presents!
This will probably be her only birthday cake. The sweets girl at treats at school, and then had taffy, sweet tarts, popcorn, and who knows what else while watching "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2" at the movie theater last night. Sister Peach watched Oslin so that we could go as a family. Davis came with us too!
